2006 Jeep Wrangler

Out of the blue my wife Patty says “It’s time for you to get a new truck”. We have always taken turns buying vehicles. Patty got the first new car, a 1988 Pontiac Grand-Am. Financed for 5 years. Once paid off I got the 1993 Dodge Dakota and again financed for 5 years. By now Patty’s Grand-Am is 10 years old and has over 200,000 miles, so she buys a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan. Again financed for 5 years the Caravan made transporting our growing family so much easier. Fast forward 5 years and the Caravan is paid off and has become an undependable money pit, it had to go. We inherited a 1998 Ford Taurus from my grandparents estate, not exactly Patty’s cup of tea, but it was more dependable that the Caravan.

So back to the start of our story when Patty says “It’s time for you to get a new truck.” It’s the summer of 2006, the Dakota is 13 years old and still looked and ran good although it had 200,000 miles. Patty said I was “cutting into her time” because it was my turn to get a new vehicle and she would have to wait until it was paid for before she could get hers. I suggested that she get the new vehicle since the truck was running good but she would have nothing to do with it, “It’s your turn”.

Off to the dealership I go. I had been thinking about a jeep. Having the ability to drop the top in good weather as well has having 4 wheel drive in bad weather really appealed to me. After looking over the dealerships selection and a couple of test drives I came home with a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X Model. When Patty got home from work we dropped the top and went for our first “ramble” through the country side, and that’s how this rambling thing started.
